Humber Street Sesh 2015 Support
Houlton were pleased to respond to a request from the Humber Street Sesh organisers for sponsorship in the form of sheets of plywood for graffiti artists to use during this years event to create their artwork. We also agreed to allow organisers use of part of our site accommodation as their first aid/production office.
We supplied 100No. plywood sheets which were set up around the venue and Graffiti artists were invited to create their artwork on them.
Visitors were then able to check out the street art transforming areas around Humber Street, including the piers, the marina and industrial shopping containers. It was yet another successful event and it was great to see the area surrounding our construction site busy with people enjoying themselves.
Humber Street Sesh is a festival to promote and celebrate the excellence and diversity of Hull’s creative community and to inspire future generations to engage with and embrace music and the arts, leaving a lasting legacy within the city.
The Humber Street Sesh festival has played a significant role in raising the city’s cultural ambitions including the successful bid to become UK City of Culture 2017. The festival has been growing substantially since its founding in 2012, with over 40,000 people attending in 2013.
Houlton are currently undertaking a major scheme refurbishing a set of long term empty properties on Humber Street and Pier Street which will transform the former warehouses into units of flexible space to promote and accommodate new creative industries - galleries, offices, digital companies, grow on spaces and independent retail/restaurant/café uses.
