Andrew joined the company in January 2000 as Head of Building & Maintenance and with success was promoted to Director in 2002. Over a period of sustainable growth, he has focussed the Division in terms of its leadership, direction and developed it into a cohesive and professional operation. The Division is now a substantial (£15m 2017/18) and significant part of the Houlton business, operated by an experienced management team supported by over 60 skilled operatives, tackling schemes in value up to £1.25m.
Promoted to Joint Managing Director in July 2017 as part of the companies’ succession planning for the future development of the business in the years ahead. Andrew’s remit has now extended to cover all aspects of Houlton’s operational and commercial activities with particular focus on business development and marketing.
He obtained his Quantity Surveying degree at Trent Polytechnic in 1983 and was elected a member of the RICS in 1986. His previous employment reflects his sound commercial knowledge, combined with a wealth of experience gained from working in different fields of the construction industry from main contracting, subcontracting, to private practice, with roles in procurement, surveying, contracts management, and leadership at various levels. He is an enthusiastic and committed team player, customer focused, with a professional outlook and a strong sense of fair play.
Andrew is a Trustee of NAPA – The Northern Academy of Performing Arts, an educational trust based on Anlaby Road, Hull.
