The organisation was fully certified to Investors In People in 2000 and has successfully maintained this accreditation with regular independent assessment audits, an active IIP committee and commitment to continual improvement.
Our IIP committee has representatives from across the business, meets on a regular basis, often out on sites, and circulates meeting minutes throughout the Company. The committee has matured over the years and has contributed many positive improvements and changes to the business. Regular appraisals allow ongoing improvement of individuals and the business, including updates on the Houlton Business Plan and development of training plans.
The company received its 10 Year certificate of continuous recognition from Investors in People in January 2011, and can now celebrate over 16 years as an Investor in People. This is a fantastic achievement demonstrating an ongoing dedication to our people and a commitment to continuous improvement. We have joined a select but growing group of over 3,000 organisations, representing all sizes and sectors, which have achieved this significant milestone and enjoyed successive Investors in People reviews for a decade or more.
As part of our investment in our people we were keen to adopt a Living Wage for employees back in November 2012, a logical step as part of our commitment to working towards alleviating wage poverty and being an ethical employer. The living wage is an hourly wage rate set independently and updated annually by the Centre for Research in Social Policy and is set at a level to be enough to make sure workers and their families can live free from poverty.
