Houlton were delighted to receive the highest Concom accreditation, a Certificate of Merit in recognition of outstanding achievement in their last Concom audit, achieving a score of 97%.

The award was presented by Trevor Thompson of Greenergy and also Chairman of Concom  and Dave Roulson Concom Coordinator to Houlton SHEQ manager Ian Shepherdson at a recent awards ceremony and Catch Up With Competency Event.

Humber Bank Contractor Competency Forum HBCCF or Concom as it is more usually known is a joint project between a number of the Humber Bank process industry sites and their contractors to monitor and promote high standards of competency in the contractor base. It helps clients meet their need to assess contractors systems and capabilities and provides contractors with a single standard and consistent system to demonstrate their competence to multiple clients. HCF CATCH are appointed by Concom to administer and run the scheme.

Key advantages to Houlton is that it provides a single audit for 19 Humber Bank clients which provides development support and shared information on safety and competence issues as well as a joint approach to common issues and best practice.

Concom audits contractors who are working on, or clients are intending to use on their sites using an audit template agreed by the client group. The audit report and data is then available to all the client members so that the contractor is only audited once regardless of how many of the clients they work for.

Concom supports contractors in improving their systems and competency by promoting and sharing best practice and providing training targeted at areas found to be weak during systems or site audits. Concom is a collaborative and supportive tool promoting continual improvement.
