Houlton continued their commitment to the safety and wellbeing of its employees by organising the first of a number sessions on driver safety.

Humberside Fire and Rescue, who are a partner of Safer Roads Humber, along with Humberside Police, Ambulance Service and Hull City Council visited the Houlton offices to deliver a presentation on the importance of driver awareness and the importance of identifying risks.

Following the presentation, staff  were given a virtual reality headset and earphones to watch a piece of footage which submerses the participant within the action giving a 360 degree view.

The footage places you as the passenger of a car journey, which because of various distractions and hazards, crashes. It continues, as response services arrive at the scene and begin extraction and recovery.

Houlton were one of the first companies to use the pioneering training aid, developed ultimately to cut deaths on the road and will eventually be taken into schools and colleges to show the dangers whilst at the wheel.
