York Asset Maintenance Programme 2014

Following the previous year’s successful schemes for City of York Councils Asset Maintenance Programme the works for 2014 also successfully completed. Since starting the project we completed thirteen projects in primary and secondary schools in York and its surrounding areas.

The works have included window renewals, refurbishments to school toilets, building fabric repairs and re-roofing, as well as repairs to insulation, electrical works and the renewal of an oil tank.

For 2014 we completed the following 11 projects over the summer holiday period:

Burton Green School – The work at this school consisted of stripping the roof covering and completely replacing it due to the schools problems with water ingress.

Canon Lee School – The work here consisted of stripping the roof back to the cement screed and replacing it with a Soprema single ply roofing system over a high performance cut to falls insulation system.

Danesgate School – Works consisted of the replacement of the schools temporary portacabin with a new permanent portacabin. Works here also consisted of phase 3 window replacement and re-roofing works.

Dringhouses Primary School - Another project completed within the school summer holidays was the replacement of the windows at Dringhouses Primary School. This project involved sympathetically replacing the worn and damaged original timber windows on the front elevation. We have replaced the windows with a pre-finished Grampian Mark 5 Scandinavian pine window with a similar design to the original; we have also fitted internal and external decorative mouldings to add to the design.

Dunnington CE Primary School – The work at this school consisted of a complete refurbishment of the Key Stage 2 toilet block.

Fulford School – Involved the replacement of the original school windows with powder coated aluminum windows.

Millthorpe School - The re-roofing works and building fabric repairs was to the administration block at Millthorpe High School.  While working on this Grade II listed building we also rebuilt the chimneys to closely match the originals, this work included the replacement of the heavily weathered and damaged chimney coping stones. We also worked on Phase 2 of the window replacement scheme commenced the previous year..

Scarcroft Primary School – The work here involved the refurbishment and decoration of the original Victorian hall windows.

Stockton on Forest Primary School –  The work at this school actually consisted of two jobs; 1) The replacement of the schools windows and roof. 2) The replacement and re-location of the schools oil tank.

York High School - The work here consisted of building an over roofing support system. The over roofing support system has been done with a metal cladded system with a tile effect finish. This was done due to the fact the existing clay roof tiles had been bonded to the roof structure with foam insulation.
