Work commenced following a successful bid for Hull City Council via the YORbuild 2 Framework. Working with Alan Wood & Partner and NPS we Undertook the Below works and have completed the below:-
- Removing all existing roof tiles and store. Tiles of suitable condition will be cleaned and readied for re installation.
- All existing timber battens and counter battens to be removed and disposed of safely. Rafters to be de-nailed and lead flashings disposed of.
- Timber window element exteriors to be sanded back and prepared for repainting.
- Metal Elements of Conservation windows to be stripped back and prepared for repainting.
- In the main hall, the ceiling will be repaired and decorated.
- Stonework is to be nylon brushed to halt erosion where possible, replaced where not conservable and secured where cracks could lead to instability. All open joints are to be pointed in accordance with Historic England guidelines.
- Removal of existing suspended ceiling and restoring the original barrelled roof features.
- Replace flooring
- Repair structures and re-plaster
- Supply and fit new kitchen facilities
- Redecorate throughout.
The aim was to future proof the building whilst maintaining it's historic integrity and enable users to enjoy the Arcade and the boxing facilities which are well renowned in the city as the place where gold medalist Luke Campbell started his career.
