Construction Department – Buyer

An experienced buyer is required for our Construction Department.

Responsible to the Construction Director

Key Responsibilities:                                                           

  • Material and services delivery from estimation to site
  • Achieving best value
  • Creating and managing term contracts
  • Giving feedback and anticipation of market trends
  • Maintaining the efficient payment of invoices

Key Skills

1. Obtain and select tenders
  • Obtain tenders                                  
  • Assess and select successful tenders

 

2. Select, prepare and agree contracts          
  • Negotiate and conclude a contract for the supply of goods, materials and services

 

3. Seek, evaluate and organize information for action
  • Obtain and evaluate information to aid decision making            
  • Forecast trends and developments which affect objectives
  • Record and store information         

 

4.  Change information to solve problems and make decisions
  • Lead meetings and group discussions to solve problems and make decisions

5. Procure resources for the project          
  • Establish requirements for project materials

Construction - Senior Ganger/Groundworker

Key Responsibilities

  • To control/co-ordinate incoming materials, stores, site welfare, plant on a day-to-day basis including security of site
  • To work in a safe manner at all times
  • To co-operate with Management and carry out all responsible requests, maintaining high standards of workmanship in line with the project specification and Company Quality Standards
  • To manage others to achieve the above when required
  • Maintain quality, safety and environmental standards
  • To  manage others to achieve the above when required

 

Must have experience in

  • Foundations/concrete
  • Drainage
  • External works/paving/kerbs

 

Minimum requirements

  • Plant operator qualified - minimum Dumper/Roller
  • CSCS card holder
  • Driving licence
