Considerate Constructors
Started in 1997, this important initiative operates a voluntary Code of Considerate Practice to which many of our construction sites register. The Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded by the industry to improve its image.
The Code of Considerate Practice commits our sites registered with the Scheme to enhance their appearance, respect the community, protect the environment, secure everyone's safety and care for the workforce. The aim is for continuous improvement for the benefit of clients and communities so that they become a positive advertisement, not just for ourselves but for the industry as a whole.
Sites are normally monitored twice, usually one quarter and two thirds of the way through and we target to improve our Considerate Constructors results from these inspections over time. Many of our projects have received Performance Beyond Compliance Certificates from Considerate Constructors following their site inspection audits.
Also our projects at Hull Royal Infirmary Tower Block, Orange Box, Halifax, Church View, Doncaster and Willerby Carr Lane School, Hull all won Bronze Awards in the annual CCS National Site Awards for 2015, 2013, 2012 and 2010.
The Code of Considerate Practice outlines the Scheme's expectations and describes those areas that are considered fundamental for registration with the Scheme. Each section of the Code contains an aspirational supporting statement and four bullet points which represent the basic expectations of registration with the Scheme.
