Following a successful bid, Houlton were delighted to be awarded the contract to work at one of Yorkshire's main tourist attractions.
The project entailed the removal of existing staircase and access platforms. Cast new foundations and supply and install new steel staircase.
A series of enabling works needed to be carried out prior to the main works commencing, these included a CAT Scan and geny of the area to ensure no services are located within the vicinity of the proposed works, bore trial holes adjacent to the building to establish the location, depth and type of foundations present in the location of the new staircase and survey of the steel structure and cladding both internally and externally in the location of the proposed new staircase to the north east corner of the building to assess the requirements and design the connection back to the new staircase.
The project was undertaken over a 20 week period during winter shutdown, avoiding any disruption to patrons of the facility.
