Rainham Steel

Rainham Steel, formed in 1973, is now the UK’s foremost independent structural steel stockholder. Based in Rainham, Essex, with their regional centre in Scunthorpe, the company has grown and developed and supplies to various industries including steel stockholders, structural engineers, construction companies and civil engineers.

The project, including a brand new factory,  was built in three phases to accomodate the clients busy steel stockholding yard.

The first phase of the development consisted of three new buildings; a two storey office, a two storey mess facility building and a maintenance shed. A new main entrance with security office, barrier and car parking as well as considerable areas of external concrete yard were also constructed.

Rainham Steel’s second phase was a new factory to allow manufacture of steel material to their clients requirements. Included were several overhead travelling cranes to allow movement of steel beams, etc within the building, as well as preparation and cutting facilities.

The third phase was a steel storage unit to allow finished products to be stored under cover ready for final delivery to end users. The building required dynamic compaction of the existing made up ground and consolidation prior to construction of pad foundations and steel frame.

Naturally the steel for the reinforced concrete and the steel frames was supplied directly by Rainham Steel.
