University of Hull Business School

The new University of Hull Business School (HUBS), enables the city to celebrate one of its remarkable growth stories. Although HUBS has doubled in size to more than 3,000 students since it was formed in 1999 this rapid expansion has been absorbed into the existing campus buildings by the construction of new buildings and refurbishment of existing buildings. .

The £8m investment gives HUBS a purpose-built facility and centres on three high profile Grade 2 listed buildings acquired by the university on the Cottingham Road frontage which have been refurbished and linked by sympathetically designed new buildings. Work on the classically facaded Derwent, Esk and Wharfe buildings facing Cottingham Road included modern glazed link additions to connect all three buildings together.

Facilities in the new school include state-of-the art computer suites which utilise the latest wireless technology, modern and fully equipped teaching rooms and seminar rooms. A highlight is the 500 seat lecture theatre in the new extension linking Esk and Derwent buildings. The largest lecture theatre on the campus, it houses the latest AV equipment, comfortable seating and video conferencing technology. This new extension forms a hub for undergraduate students and provides them with state-of-the-art teaching and seminar spaces complete with interactive white boards and computers.
