ERYC Salt & Park

A YORbuild scheme for the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to construct a new 2,500 tonne salt store facility at the ERYC Annie Reed Road Depot, Beverley. Due to the severe weather over the last three years the new salt barn was complete and stocked ready for the winter ahead.

The salt is available for ERYC to treat the defined network in the East Ridings covering a total of 1,254 kilometres of roads plus the defined secondary network covering a total of 480 kilometres of roads. The project also included provision of a vehicle parking facility with office refurbishment on the adjacent Beck View Road at the old Plasticon site, part of which we originally constructed back in the 1980’s.

The new salt barn involved breaking out the existing concrete yard area and installing 52No. x 12m deep pre-cast concrete piles and reinforced concrete foundations with concrete floor slab ready to receive the specialist salt barn. This is a 22mx22m square steel framed all weather hall with 3m high reinforced concrete push walls, 8m eaves height and translucent PVC roof sail to provide natural lighting.

Refurbishment to the new vehicle parking facility included construction of internal partition walls, suspended ceilings, doors and windows, installation of fire alarm, electrical lighting and power systems, floor finishes and decoration works. Drainage services and external paving works completed the scheme.
