Thornton Village Hall

REFURBISHMENT & EXTENSION TO HOLY APOSTLES CHURCH, WALKER STREET, HULL TO FORM THORNTON VILLAGE HALL

The Goodwin Development Trust undertook work to transform Holy Apostles Church to provide a new community performance space called The Village Hall, a multi-purpose venue acting as a civic heart for the local community and beyond.

The project retained and fully refurbished the existing building, and provided a small 2 storey extension to the south side with toilets, kitchenette and lift. The extension is timber framed and clad in Trespa panels and a new entrance was created through the Bell Tower.

The Thornton Village Hall is located at the heart of the Great Thornton Estate and is the home of Goodwin’s Youth Training and arts/creative industries projects that give young people the opportunity to develop skills, gain work experience and plan and deliver co-designed arts events and gigs.
