Leven & Beeford Medical Practice Extension

A £703,000 extension project at Leven & Beeford Medical Practice, delivering five new GP consultation rooms and improved accessibility while sensitively connecting with the existing Grade II Listed Building.

This project involved the construction of a new extension to Leven & Beeford Medical Practice, designed to link seamlessly with the existing Grade II Listed Building while providing improved healthcare facilities for patients and staff. The £703,000 development, completed over a 23-week programme, created five new GP consultation rooms, increasing the practice’s capacity and providing a modern, accessible clinical environment.

Due to the listed status of the existing building, achieving full accessibility throughout the original surgery was challenging. The new extension was carefully designed to overcome these limitations, providing a fully accessible, step-free route from the main entrance through to the final consultation room. The internal environment was thoughtfully considered, with contrasting colours, finishes and flooring selected to enhance the experience for all users, including those with visual impairments. Hearing loops were also installed to support patients with hearing difficulties, while a new compliant accessible WC was provided adjacent to the patient waiting area.

Externally, the extension was sensitively integrated with the existing building and surrounding site constraints, with the main entrance retained as the primary accessible entrance due to existing levels and the historic nature of the property. The existing parking arrangement was maintained, providing eight staff and consultant spaces along with two dedicated disabled parking bays located at the front of the building. The completed project provides Leven & Beeford Medical Practice with a high-quality, accessible and functional healthcare facility, enhancing patient services while respecting and complementing the character of the Grade II Listed Building.
