Scarborough Over 55's Housing Development

Houlton design and build housing project for over 55's opened its doors at Newby, Scarborough in July 2020.

Webb Ellis Court in Newby is a community wellbeing service designed to maximise independence for Scarborough’s aging population who require on-going care and encourage community involvement.

Developed by Home Group the Webb Ellis Court project includes 31 two-bed and 32 one-bed apartments including internal site roads, s278 highway improvements and associated drainage. It was created in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council and Scarborough Borough Council, who jointly commissioned the project. It consists of a traditional 3-storey brick and block superstructure with pre-cast concrete floors and pitched tiled roofs.

As well as housing, the project also includes a range of on-site amenities, such as a cafe, restaurant, guest accommodation, a hair and beauty salon, and space for local community groups to use.
It provides high-quality homes that are available for affordable rent. This extra care development is crucial to help older and vulnerable people to live independently in their communities for as long as possible - the service is very different to traditional residential care as it integrates health, housing and social care to help maximise independence and wellbeing.
