The project was negotiated with Hull City Council delivery partner Esteem LEP Ltd. Houlton were selected for their experience of working on similar buildings
The proposed works were undertaken in two phases starting at the end of October 2021 and completing in summer 2022.
Further phases of internal remodelling are likely to be negotiated in 2023.
Former Park Avenue, Hull, Industrial School for Girls and boundary walls - Grade II listed Building erected in 1888, a Queen Anne design by prominent Hull architects William Botterill and John Bilson, fair-faced brick mainly in English-bond. Shaped and moulded brick dressings with some stone dressings. Plain tile roofs with red ridge tiles and cast-iron rainwater goods.
The works allowed the relocation of the Hull Training and Adult Education team from the Endeavour site on Beverley Road, ahead of its refurbishment for the Trinity House move.
Phase 1
External works:
Render repairs to brick boundary walls.
Concrete repairs.
Repairs to external drainage following CCTV survey.
Refurbishment of existing window frames.
Stonework repairs.
Brickwork repairs and repointing.
Internal Works:
Fire-stopping measures based on findings of recent surveys.
Installation of new boiler and improved temperature controls.
Lighting replacement.
Touch-up decoration.
Phase 2
Scaffold Design and installation to perimeter of building and roof.
Environmental Clean including removal of Pigeon guano.
Removal and replacement of roof insulation.
Timber repairs and Roof replacement, including lead-works.
Cupola Refurbishment.
Replacement of Cast Iron Rainwater Goods.
Structural Repairs to the Stable Block.
