HEYCU - Careers Experience Day

Last Friday, Houlton partnered with Hull Training & Adult Education to host a brilliant Careers Experience Day for Hull & East Yorkshire Children’s University. We welcomed pupils from St Charles Primary School for a hands-on look at the wide range of careers in construction. From painting & decorating to bricklaying and joinery, the children got stuck into practical tasks before learning about on-site safety in a talk delivered by Houlton SHEQ Manager, Scott. A massive thank you goes out to Hull Training and Adult Education for assisting us with planning and hosting the day, we couldn't have done any of this without you! The day was truly treasured by the pupils — and even the adults! We were thrilled to receive this lovely message from the Deputy Head of St Charles: “Just wanted to say a huge thank you for arranging our business experience last week. My class had the best time and it was so incredibly valuable. Staff and volunteers were so helpful and couldn’t have done more to make it a really memorable experience. We all, children and staff, absolutely loved it. My daughter came along and is now giving up uni to become a bricklayer. Thank you again.” A huge thank you to everyone involved for helping inspire the next generation of construction professionals!
