HEYCU - Charity Football Match
14th July 2025
On Saturday, the Houlton Has-Beens laced up their boots and took to the pitch for the Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University Charity Football Match — and what a day it was!
While they may not have come away with the win, the team put in a tireless and spirited performance, showing great determination and teamwork throughout. It was all in support of a brilliant cause, helping to raise awareness and funds for an organisation that works tirelessly to inspire and educate children across our region.
The eventual winners of the tournament were Trident — a massive congratulations to their team on a well-earned victory.
Hats off to our team: The Houlton Has-Beens:
Paul Gibson, Scott Spaven, James Jennison, Mark Elliot, Tyler Knight, Aaron Nelson-Girtchen, Dean Burdick, Paul Watson, and Alex Fawcett for an impressive showing on the day.
A special shout-out must go to our very own Nik Richardson, who came along expecting a relaxing morning on the sidelines but ended up stepping in as referee for the match! Thank you, Nik, for keeping things fair and fun.
Well done once again to the Houlton Has-Beens for representing us with pride and passion. Events like these show the real value of community spirit — and that a good cause, a bit of football, and a great bunch of people can make for a truly memorable day.
A big thank you to all the staff and HEYCU for organising such as great event!
