Houlton were delighted to be involved with the Roots to Roof project again this year. The schools involved were Cavendish Primary School, Buckingham Primary School, Francis Askew Primary School, Appleton Primary School and Biggin Hill Primary School.

A successful night at the North Yorkshire Building Control Building Excellence Awards saw Houlton pick up the winners award for our project at Riverside Community Special School in Goole. The award was recognition for the works undertaken in Phase 1 of the project.

The 2019 South Yorkshire and Humber LABC awards were held at Forest Pines on the 17th May and Houlton were pleased to be in attendance as two recent schemes were being judged.

David joined the Company in 2000 as Senior Contracts Manager in the Construction Division as part of a plan to increase turnover, recognising the need to strengthen production management. This was rapidly achieved as the company increased its presence in public sector works and were appointed to a succession of frameworks, while sustaining Houlton’s traditional commercial and industrial base. Major achievements at this time were the delivery of four consecutive Project Management fast-track contracts for the NHS.

February 22nd 2019 saw the annual dinner held in honour of employees with over 25 years service and Houlton pensioners. The event was also attended by Houlton's Executive team.

Jimmy Jennison, a Contract Manager with our Building & Maintenance Division, has volunteered to spend a night in a cell on the 15th February 2019. The charity lock up is supporting Oscar’s Chance, a charity that are raising money for a 4-year-old boy named Oscar. Oscar has got 4 limb cerebral palsy which affects all aspects of his life, he has got very tight hamstrings and after having two rounds of Botox injections we have decided to aim for a long term life changing operation. SDR is the operation which will remove all his spasticity & tightness in his legs permanently. Unfortunately this operation isn’t available on the NHS for children as severe as Oscar which is why we need to raise the money to take him to the USA.
