Roy Settle

Colleagues Say Farewell To Roy As He Retires After 24 Years Service

Roy Settle joined the company in 1997 as a joiner and worked on a variety of schemes from office fit out's to school extensions and refurbishments. He was promoted to site manager in 2004 and in the last few years was instrumental in delivering the East Riding re roofing projects. Roy was a well respected member of staff who was not shy to share his opinion and had a great sense of humour.

Allan Hill

Allan Hill Retires

Alan joined the company late October 1987 working on the new ice arena we were building in Hull. He worked for many years with his colleague Charlie Hilton as a team of expert groundworkers. Whilst Charlie moved on Alan has stayed achieving promotion along the way to Site Manager with the company. He retired at the end of July 2021 having worked for nearly 34 years at Houlton’s, he had his 25 year celebration back in 2012 when he was presented with a gift from the company.

Esteem - Hull Vigil Viewing Platform

From 3 May 2021, every day for a year, at sunrise and sunset, a Vigil (person) will keep watch over Hull from a bespoke wood and glass structure located on top of the Hull College building, facing east and west, overlooking Queen’s Gardens and the William Wilberforce statue at one side, the River Humber, the docks and East Hull on the other. Over the course of the year 730 people will contribute to the collective vigil – a 365 day silent performance – watching over the city.
