The building also provides a home for several other local community groups, including a table tennis group, making it an important shared facility for the wider Anlaby and Haltemprice community..
Addressing a parking challenge
Despite the fantastic work taking place at Men in Sheds, the site faced a practical challenge. The building is located on land shared with the NHS, meaning parking facilities were limited and demand could be high.
With several different groups using the building and its facilities, improving the parking arrangements was an important step towards making the site more accessible and convenient for everyone.
Working together through YorHub 4 Good
Houlton worked alongside Men in Sheds Anlaby to explore how the parking challenges could be addressed through the YorHub 4 Good Fund initiative.
Using funding available through the 4 Good Fund pots, Houlton supported the development of a proposal to improve the site's parking facilities.
We were delighted that the proposal was successful and funding was awarded to help deliver the improvements.
This project demonstrates how collaboration between organisations, combined with access to community-focused funding, can help tackle everyday challenges and deliver tangible benefits for local people.
