International Women's Day was first celebrated in 1911 by a handful of countries such as Austria and Denmark. It wasn't until 1975 when it became more recognised and celebrated by the United Nations.

Here at Houlton we celebrate all women from all backgrounds.

A few words from our Managing Director, Andrew Kingston:

''International Women's Day has become a date to celebrate how far women have come in society, in politics and in business. At Houlton we encourage all women to achieve their full potential and place no barriers to their development.''

To celebrate the women here at Houlton we interviewed four of our female staff members to find out what International Women's Day means to them.
