Happy Retirement, Dave Angus!

After an incredible 48 years with Houlton, we say a fond farewell to Dave Angus as he embarks on his well-earned retirement.

Dave joined Houlton straight from school as an Apprentice Bricklayer, showing dedication and skill that saw him progress to Site Manager in 1991. Since then, he has been a key part of our team, bringing expertise and leadership to every project he’s worked on.

He has played a key role in delivering some of the company’s most prestigious projects over the years, with recent highlights including:

CAMHS Facility

This project involved the construction of a new inpatient unit for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The scheme included the creation of a new access road and pedestrian routes, alongside the partial demolition of the existing children’s centre. With a budget of £7.8 million, Dave led the works on-site, ensuring its successful completion.

Harrogate Hospital – Endoscopy Suite

A £4 million project that involved a first-floor extension to Harrogate Hospital to accommodate a state-of-the-art Endoscopy treatment suite. The construction combined both modular and traditional building methods to deliver a high-quality healthcare facility.

University of Hull – Staff House Refurbishment

This £2 million refurbishment transformed the existing servery, dining, conference, and office facilities within Staff House, located at the heart of the university’s main campus.

Middleton Hall, University of Hull – Refurbishment

A £9.5 million redevelopment at the University of Hull, featuring the construction of a new entrance foyer and café, a complete remodelling of the auditorium, and the creation of a new creative link to the adjacent Larkin Building at ground floor level.

Dave will be greatly missed on-site, but we wish him all the best for this exciting new chapter.
